Colour Festival Durban
This past weekend was the Colour Festival Durban, held at the Gateway Wavehouse. Hundreds of people gathered to listen to DJ's and hurl packets of powdered paint at each other. The event is Inspired by the Hindu Holi festival of colour held in Feb/March each year in India and other countries with large Indic diaspora populations. I found this giant book in our library, loved the images but could only fit parts of it in the scanner so here are a few snippets from the Harmonia Macrocosmica- A star atlas written by Andreas Cellarius and originally published in 1660. It contains copper plate prints depicting the world systems of Claudius Ptolemy, Nicolaus Copernicus and Tycho Brahe as well as maps of the classical and Christian constellations. View Article
