I went to a new deli type restaurant called Morrison & Co the other day for a coffee and some lunch with Shane. They make everything from their own preserves to marshmallows to bread to pizza to cakes. I had a bacon and chicken chowder and a gaint parmasen cheese stick and picked at Shane’s yummy scone, when he wasn’t looking. A lot of effort has been put into the set-up of this shop and it’s content – It’s a sweet little place and definitely worth a visit.

It’s located in the Post Office Centre opposite Thrupps.

A definite favorite in Cape Town. Seems not too many people know about Woodlands which makes this place extra special. They’ve become known for their lamb pizza (pictured) but everything is just so darn tasty. Visit them at 2 Deerpark Drive West, Cape Town.

I am so excited to introduce the latest member of our itswhatiminto team, his name is Anthony Bila and here is a little more about him…

Where are you from? I was born and raised in a Township called Tembisa on the East Rand of Johannesburg, South Africa.

What did you study? I studied, but it felt more like playtime both radio broadcasting/production and Advertising.

What do you do now? At the moment I wear a few hats, I work as digital copywriter, as well as freelance as an illustrator, photographer and artist/painter. I also have a weekend radio show at EuroTrashMusic Radio (ETM Radio)

What camera do you use? I’m a Nikon man. So currently I use a D3100 with a 50mm F1.4 lens as my main weapon of choice for shooting and a 200mm zoom lens when I’m being a creepy style paparazzo. Shudder.

Tell us about your art.. I’m a strong believer in self-expression, one of the ways I do that is with my paintings and illustrations. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I speak through my compositions. I love to experiment and try new styles too, from Cubism to Abstract expressionism and everything in-between. I’m currently working towards an exhibition which will showcase new pieces I’m working on.

What is on your wish list? A 1965 Aston Martin DB5 and a Nikon D800 with a 14-24mm lense.

Do you collect anything? Deep down, or maybe not so deep down, I’m a nerd. I collect comics, anything from Superman to X-men. I’m also a fan of rare and well-crafted timepieces.

Favourite street fashion blogs? My top 3 would be www.Jakandjil.com , www.streetpeeper.com and www.streetfsn.com

What is your favourite fashion trend at the moment? I personally think being “trendy” is the biggest fashion faux pas a person can make. It’s about finding the style staples, the items that’ll stand the test of time and that express your individuality. Mixing that with current trends like leather jackets, chinos, knitwear, ankle boots, brogues, panelled leather leggings (on women of course, duh) or whatever else you’re comfortable in get the thumbs up from me.

What music are you listening to at the moment? Bon Iver, The XX, James Blake, Kanye West, The Soil, Lana Del Ray and Birdy.

Where are your favourite places in JHB? I’m a bit of a homebody, it’s where I create but Neighbourgoods Market, Wolves, and Arts on Main are all rad hangout spots. If you can get past the hipsters.

Where is your best place to eat in JHB? I’d like to sound sophisticated at this juncture, so I’ll say McDonald’s cause night or day, I’m loving it. See what I did there?

Where is your ultimate travel destination/s? The ultimate travel destination for me would be without a doubt, Japan. I’m in love and enamored with the culture, language, art and spirit of the place. Can you say, “Konnichiwa”?
