The American landscape that lies beyond the densely populated urban centers and the suburban scourge of strip malls is vastly empty and beautiful. Amidst the great rolling expanses are prairie houses, barns, school houses, filling stations, libraries and churches, now abandoned, are anthropomorphic in their style and defiance. The existence of these places is not just reminiscent of a time gone; it evokes a sense of optimism and space, room to move free of the trappings of population and sentimentality. – Peter Kayafas.

Love these pics! Spent 3 months in Montana, and especially in the open prairie of Eastern Montana one often comes across these kind of abandoned farmsteads, barns and churches. Brought back memories. Thanks
