Hello Amy, it’s very nice to meet you.

This is Amy Scheepers, she lives in Port Elizabeth where she is studying photography, not that she needs to because her photos are just plain beautiful. The other day I asked this local talented lass a few questions so I could get to know her a bit better. So everyone, say hello to Amy.

What would you want to do if you could do anything in the world? Too many things. To travel to wonderful places and shoot whoever I want, and then go to South America and disappear for a bit. To start making films. To go on a roadtrip through Europe and document it all. Also, if I could work as a photographer for the National Geographic for a bit I would be a very happy girl.

The people you shoot, are a lot of them your friends? Most of them are yeah, I’m lucky to have friends who are very keen to help out.

The clothes in the shoots, are they the models own? Or do you source and style the shoots yourself? It’s a big mixture. Usually I shoot using my own clothes but now and then I’l use things from a stylist, the model or things I’v sourced. I generally style all the shoots myself, the first time I used a stylist was for my latest shoot and it was a very good experience, so I’l definitely be doing it more now.

Have you shot anything for a publication or an editorial etc? Nope, not yet, but my work should be getting published soon. Yay!

What camera do you shoot with? Canon 1000D, good lord I need an upgrade!

Who are some of your most favourite photographers? Ha! Just when you think you have your list, you stumble on 5 new brilliant photographers, so this is a pretty hard question. But the ones that I always go back to are Tim Walker, Solve Sundsbo, Silja Magg, Candace Meyer, and Camilla Akrans.

If you could have any crazy object/thing/animal in your shoot, anything, what would it be? What would your most ideal shoot be if money wasn’t an object? I’m thinking a bear and lots of pineapples in an empty pool. You?
Haha, yes! No not actually, sorry Angie, I really want to shoot at some of the old palaces in France. Versailles and loads of places in the country too. They’re amazing and the gardens are incredible too, that with some interesting models, flipping awesome clothes and possibly a flamingo or ten. Yes.
