Texture, denim jackets, knee high socks, preppy classics mixed with new proportions, pop culture pieces & a touch of metallic. This Elle UK editorial is how I’d like to dress everyday.
Lea Colombo at Paris Fashion Week
Local lovely Lea Colombo snapped some serious fashion faces outside the Valentino show at Paris Fashion Week. If I saw Hanne Gaby Odiele in real life i would totally platz. Check out more of Lea’s dreamy fashion week shots here.
I was lucky enough to attend the Lalesso show at Cape Town Fashion week (or #mbfwct if you’re hashtag inclined). And while the clothes were impeccable, it was the amazing headpieces designed by Crystal Birch and statement jewellery by Pichulik that really captured my imagination and elevated the whole thing into the realm of fashion fantasy. Which is what a runway show should do right? Photographs: Simon Deiner / SDR Photo.
It’s not just the colours in these pictures (the iridescent jewel tones, the rust, the red lips and ivory skin) that strike a chord. I saw both of these images in the same day – first, Franz von Struck’s painting of the Wounded Amazon and then this street style picture by The Sartorialist. Both of them shared a strange mix of strength and vulnerability and I couldn’t help draw a link in my mind between the Amazon caught in battle and the girl who seems to be receiving some side-ways looks of the girls passing by her on the left. Because these days, that is the battle we face. Do we dare to stand out in the crowd? Expose ourselves to ridicule? Does fashion make us vulnerable or does it act as a shield? For me the two women exhibit a brave, defiant spirit that, in a world full of sameness, inspires me to be myself.

Love your style, And that editorial is exactly the way I’d like to dress too
