Judging by the design and contents of Ikhaya on Windermere Road we knew Rhenda and Nev would have an inspiring space for us to shoot but what makes this post more interesting is the fact they let us in their workshop and shop as well as their house so you can get a well rounded feeling of their personalities and tastes. Nev does all the woodwork himself and damn his stuff has great attention to detail. He’s even missing the end of one finger – the mark of a true carpenter in my book.
The shop itself sells a great array of handmade ornaments by some of SA’s quirkier artists. You can visit them at 435 Windermere Road, Morningside, Durban or check out their site http://www.ikhayastore.com/
