This past weekend I went to the Joburg Art Fair. I try go to this every year because I love getting lost in pretty pictures for an hour and occasionally coming home with something for our walls.
Unfortunately this year I didn’t buy anything as the few things that caught my fancy cost an arm, a leg and a lung. But it was still so nice to get to walk around and up close to stuff and take a good look. Their were some really beautiful things and then some pieces that my underdeveloped art brain really did not get. Oh well.
Here are some photos of the things I thought were really awesome.
This figurine was no bigger than the length of my arm. The detail was amazing.
The embroidered pieces above were made out of rolled up newspaper. They were amazing.

Wow, some fantastic art, thanks for sharing. Do you have the artists names…would like to know who did the women with flowers in her hair, the embroidered pieces and the photos hanging from a wire.

It’s nice to get a general idea of what was shown. Some artists seem to be putting a lot of effort into handwork, which is great.
